Google is Accelerating Partial Reopening of Offices and Putting Limits on Future of Remote Work

Updated: Jul 1, 2021

Google is accelerating its plans to return employees to the office. Instead of staying remote until the planned Sept. 1 reopening when employees will be expected to show up in person 3 days per week, some offices will open in a limited capacity this April based on vaccine availability and on a volunteer basis. After Sept. 1, employees will need to formally apply for any remote work exceeding an additional 14 days per year. Although Google will be expecting employees to live within commuting distance of offices, the company might adjust salaries based on work location.
